Our role and agreement with you

We will be honest in all our business dealings with you.

We will always endeavour to provide the service and standards you expect, at all times.

We will be professional, and treat your ethical information with integrity.

We will not assist, condone, aid or abet any action which is, or could be contrary to Law.

We must be made aware of the exact route chosen, ideally a minimum of 24 hours prior to the journey.

Unless you have asked us to survey a route, which is a separate service we can offer, the onus for selecting the route, together with obtaining permission and agreement from the relevant authorities, rests with the haulier or operator of the abnormal vehicle / abnormal load.

We will, prior to, and during the journey, act as liaison with the police control rooms and any other interested official party, and inform them of the progress of the indivisible hazard as is required.

We will assist the driver of the abnormal load, and remain in radio contact with him/her throughout the journey, however, the abnormal load driver is ultimately responsible for the steering and chosen passage of the vehicle / load which he / she is driving, and controls. The escort has no authority to countermand any traffic signs or signals, unless they have accreditation granted under the Police Reform Act 2002.

If passage is regarded as difficult by the escort, due to unforeseen street furniture or similar obstruction, and safe passage can only be progressed with the assistance of a Police presence, then we will contact the Police to achieve their attendance.

We will always comply with Police instructions, or other involved authority strongly advising or requiring a delay in any transport movement.

The role of escort is to provide a highly visible presence in the immediate vicinity of an abnormal vehicle or load. The escort’s prime role is to warn motorists and pedestrians of any hazard, and maintain public safety.

Wherever practical, we will always proceed with a 30 minute safety check / route briefing with the driver(s) prior to the escort commencement, for health and safety reasons.

If the abnormal vehicle / load driver proceeds against the specific, honestly held, and substantial advice of the escort or any police officer, then he / she will do so under their own accountability.

The term “escort” refers to the person escorting the abnormal load / vehicle, and not to any vehicle utilised to achieve this aim.

We do not supply steersmen, nor are we insured for that purpose.

We are not transport contractors - we only provide escorts.

Our fully marked-up, dedicated vehicles carry no operators logo.

Our services are available only within mainland Britain.
